TRIPP LITE OUTPERFORMS UPS COMPETITION TO WIN
SCO MAGAZINE'S "TOP OF THE WORLD" RATING
Chicago, IL (August 27, 1999) Tripp Lite, a leading
manufacturer of power protection products, beat out four other UPS manufacturers on its
way to winning SCO Magazine's "Top of the World" rating in the UPS
Category. The results of SCO World's annual ranking of UPS Systems was announced in
the magazines recently released August 1999 issue.
Tripp Lite's SmartPro 1400 UPS System earned the "Top
of the World" based on its unique functionality. The SmartPro 1400 was the only
UPS capable of providing simultaneous multiple server support. Tripp Lite's
PowerAlert Software was recognized for its ability to remotely manage the SmartPro 1400
plus any other UPS on the test network. Long runtimes, helpful front-panel
diagnostic LEDs, remote reboot capability and hot-swap battery replacement were also cited
as critical factors in awarding Tripp Lite top honors.
Reviewers were quick to praise the SmartPro 1400's
connectivity and network control. "PowerAlert's individual outlet control and
network reporting, as well as the SmartPro 1400's dual machine connections, helped make
this unit a winner. In addition, the $779 [MSRP] price tag is a real
bargain." Tim Parker, technical editor for SCO World, writes "We had no
qualms about
awarding this UPS [Tripp Lite's SmartPro 1400] our 'Top of the World' rating. We are
even buying the review unit."
The SmartPro 1400 from Tripp Lite distinguished itself from
competitive systems manufactured by APC, Best Power, Powerware and MGE in the review. This
is the second time a Tripp Lite SmartPro UPS has earned "Top of the World"
rating from SCO World. Tripp Lite's SmartPro 600 earned the award in 1994.
